Gangesh Gunjan

Gangesh Gunjan is an award-winning Maithili and Hindi writer. After having worked with the All India Radio and the Kathak Kendra, he is now serving as Vice President of the Sulabh Sahitya Akademy. He has published plays, poetry, short stories and a novel in Maithili, as well as poetry, stories and translations in Hindi. He edited the magazines Anaama, Katha Disha, Bharti, Sahi-Sahi etc. and has written and produced numerous radio plays and features for All India Radio. His awards include: the Sahitya Akademi Award (1994) for Uchitvakta, a short story collection; the Rajbhasha Vishisht Pandulipi Puraskar (1984) for Apni Basti Ke Log (Hindi short stories); the Vidya Varidhi, Mithila Vibhooti and Mithila Ratna awards; and the Sahitya Sadhana Samman.
